Packaging of Fragile Objects /
Emballage d'objets fragiles

Here an example of a Kovsh packed for shipment (with instructions accompanying the objects). The outer storage case is made of corrugated polypropylene sheeting. For the object itself a mould is cut from Ethafoam, which is covered with cotton jersey cloth. Prior to use the cloth has been washed and rinsed several times, to eliminate all residues of textile treatment.

Packing instructions Kovsh 1117, Ringve Museum: Please, always handle the objects with gloves on. This object has an extremely vulnerable point which is the double eagle pointing up (---). Please keep that in mind when putting on the lid. The cotton tape for closing the box is fixed to the lower part of the box. Materials used: corrugated plastic sheet, polyethylene foam (Ethafoam), cotton jersey (washed and rinsed several times), acid free cardboard, cotton tape. Corinna Weinheimer, 25.02.2004
